John McAfee goes into exile over tax evasion, will still run for president

John McAfee is a wanted man.  The cryptocurrency enthusiast and founder of computer security software firm McAfee has stated that he is being sought by the IRS over a failure to pay taxes and that the agency has convened a grand jury to charge him, his wife and four campaign workers with “unspecified” felonies.  He doesn’t seem to mind the controversy – something he has grown accustomed to – and asserts that he will still consider launching a bid to be the next President of the U.S. in 2020, even if he has to do so living in exile.

The grand jury was apparently convened this past Tuesday in Tennessee, according to a video McAfee uploaded to Twitter.  He adds, “The McAfee 2020 Campaign is, as of this day, in exile. I am being charged with using Crypto Cuttencies [sic] in criminal acts against the U. S. Government.  More videos coming shortly. Stay tuned.”

McAfee also states in the video that he hasn’t paid taxes for the past eight years – undoubtedly the impetus for the grand jury.  He added that he hasn’t even filed tax returns during the same timeframe.

It’s possible that the outspoken crypto fan is in Venezuela, if his tweets can be believed.  He states, “The flybridge on our boat makes it the tallest boat in the Atlantis Marina. One of our shephars [sic], Axel, has taken charge of the aft deck docking station. He's waiting, i think, until we disembark for Venezuela in 4 hours at which time he and the other pups are hijacking the boat.”

His bid for the presidency, even by his own accounts, is not legitimate.  He knows he has no shot at the White House, and says, “I do not want to be president.  I just want the stage…I did it once before in The Libertarian Party. Who cares whether I can?”

Apparently, McAfee has at least one fan in a position of power in Russian.  Vladislav Ginko, who recently stated that Russia was going to forego its dependence on the U.S. dollar in favor of Bitcoin Core (but who also said that Bernie Madoff is Satoshi Nakamoto), responded to one of McAfee’s tweets, stating, “You will never feel safe anywhere in the world from US enforcement until you will land to Russia.  You’re welcome!”
