TRON Launches ‘BitTorrent Speed’ With Native Token Functionality

Just recently, Tron announced the launch of their new download optimization software called BitTorrent Speed. Users of BitTorrent Speed will be rewarded in BitTorrent Token (BTT) in exchange for seeding and bandwidth.

Yesterday, in a press release, Tron announced their new downloads optimization software BitTorrent Speed. This new software will be integrated into the BitTorrent client. Users downloading the latest version of the company’s uTorrent client for Windows will receive this feature.

As Tron claims users will be rewarded with BTT for seeding downloads and bandwidth. The company also has launched an integrated wallet feature in the software, so users can manage their funds more easily. However, at the moment, this new feature is only available for Windows OS users.

The press release goes on explaining that BitTorrent and uTorrent account for the largest decentralized peer-to-peer network in the world. They claim that they have around 100 million+ active users and installations across approximately 1 billion devices.

As we reported yesterday, the anticipation of this announcement helped to boost the price for Tron (TRX) and BitTorrent token (BTT) by almost +10%. Also, the trading volume for both of these cryptocurrencies saw a significant increase. For example, TRX daily volume increased from $580 million to $863 million, getting closer to $1 billion mark. Additionally, BTT also saw a more significant surge in daily volume as it went from $40 million to $100 million.

Protestors at The TRON Beijing Office

However, it is not only fun and new achievements for Tron, lately. Recent news reports that dozens of protestors have raided the Tron office in Beijing. Police were also involved as they arrived to defend the office.

These protestors claim that they have been scammed by Tron and lost approximately $145 million. Current claims are saying that the protestors were shouting “Tron is a scam” and similar phrases. It looks like these people were scammed by a group called “Wave Field Super Community”.

These fraudsters used the Chinese language version of Tron – Wave Field, to defraud potential investors and promised huge returns claiming that they are investing in Tron, BitTorrent, and uTorrent. Tron responded rather quickly explaining that they have nothing to do with this recent scam.

“The victims had been promised high rates of return on their investments in the name of TRON, BitTorrent and uTorrent,” writes Tron in a blog post.

Moreover, it looks like the protestors stormed the wrong office. Tron says that the scammed investors were protesting in a Raybo Technologies office, which is a Tron affiliate:

“TRON officials expressed their sympathy and understanding for those who had been deceived, however, the company strongly condemns acts of violence that may be perpetrated as a result of events that are not in its direct control.”
