Tron (TRX) MetaMask Alternative TronLink Gets Official Release

For those who want to use their TRX dynamically and have quick access to their decentralized apps (dApps), just as they would with ETH, the option is now available through a recently released MetaMask alternative for TRON called TronLink, according to an announcement by the developers.

The application, much like MetaMask, comes as a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox, allowing both developers and users of dApps to access various platforms fast and with ease.

“By integrating TronLink, developers are able to interact with smart contracts they create for their dApps right inside their browser. Interactions that were previously impossible are now easily accomplished. This enables games, applications, sites, and more, all fueled by the TRON blockchain through TronLink,” the post said.

So far, the only dApp known to use TronLink is TRONbet, an application where users gamble on the results of an algorithm that generates a random number between 0 and 99. Payouts are in a TRC20 token called ANTE, so there is no way of knowing whether gambling wins would translate to any real gains in TRX.

Gambling app aside, TronLink remains a largely untested platform. Nothing at this time suggests it is not secure, but it has yet to prove itself trustworthy and protected against incidents such as those that hit MyEtherWallet.

A Cryptovest team took the Chrome extension for a spin and found that it creates a brand new wallet. The user inputs a password and a seed is generated, creating a zero-balance TRX wallet on the blockchain.

It should be mentioned that users could import their own TRX wallets into the platform. However, regardless of the lack of security red flags, those with newly created wallets might do best to consider transferring only a portion of their entire balance to TronLink.
