TRON (TRX) Accounts Surpass EOS Owner Accounts

The TRON (TRX) network now has more accounts created than EOS, Justin Sun, TRON’s founder and CEO, recently tweeted.

The increase in accounts has been gradual since the mainnet was launched and the official TRON wallet became available.

The TRON blockchain is ahead of the game, but only by a little, for now. There are 302,648 TRON accounts as of September 4. Data from Eosflare show that there are 300,315 EOS accounts. The creation of an EOS account requires the actions of a registered user, and an EOS payment.

Those account numbers are relatively high for such new projects. To compare, the Tezos (XTZ) project recently launched its genesis block, and so far, around 9,727 accounts have been activated. To put things in perspective, there are more than 22 million Bitcoin wallets. A rough estimation suggests there are between 2.9 and 5.8 million users, according to the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance. Of course, owning Bitcoin is not connected to a personal account, or a real-world or online entity. But newer projects have taken the path of accounts and identities to make blockchain usage more intuitive.

According to data from Trivial.co, there are more than 1 million TRX holders. However, not all of them have an account, and some of the coins may be on exchanges and are purely for trading. To compare, projects like VeChain (VET) list around 48,000 holders.

Also, there is a disparity between token owners and actual users. There are more than 42 million active Ethereum addresses. However, those are not unique users, but simple wallets - some created for tests. At the same time, there are hardly more than 15,000 users of Ethereum-based apps in 24 hours, based on estimates from Dapp Radar.

Simple coins have different user dynamics. According to Bitinfo, Litecoin (LTC) had 79,480 active addresses in the past 24 hours, which is a better measure of immediate activity. Bitcoin (BTC) had 553,896 active addresses in the past 24 hours.

Registering a TRON account requires a bit more commitment than just creating a wallet. An email identity and a phone number are required. However, the real number of TRON users may not be accurate, as the new wallet allows one user to host and organize several accounts.

The TRON network carried 238,212 transactions in one day, although the number is not reflected in the Blocktivity statistics. This number would put TRX transactions above those of Bitcoin, with 227,039 transactions in the past 24 hours.
