BlockShow Heads to Asia for November Blockchain Week

Asia is the locomotive of global growth, with China and India being the two fastest-growing economies in the world. The ASEAN block, created in Bangkok five decades ago, is forecast to expand at an annual rate of 3% to 8% over the next five years. BlockShow Asia 2018 will take place in this vibrant region within the Asia Blockchain Week between November 27 and December 1, 2018.

Growing mature

The blockchain and cryptocurrency market value reached nearly $1 trillion at the end of 2017; however, a prolonged price slump dragged the valuation down to $200 billion. While the sharp correction might be painful, it benefited the industry by mopping up speculative money from the system and leaving only serious players on the field. The market has become more mature and more acceptable to corporations, institutional investors, and governments. Having gone through a reality check, the industry emerged from the crisis stronger, while people and companies realized that cryptocurrencies and blockchain are not just a fad but a new reality.

The World Bank has hired an Australian bank to create, allocate, transfer, and manage bonds on blockchain, signaling that mass adoption of the technology is within reach.

“Since our first bond transaction in 1947, innovation and investor satisfaction have been important hallmarks of our success with leveraging capital markets for development. Today, we believe that emerging technologies equally offer transformative yet prudent possibilities for us to continue to innovate, respond to investor needs and strengthen markets,” World Bank treasurer Arunma Oteh told India’s Mint newspaper.

Right place, right time

BlockShow Asia 2018 aims to help blockchain experts, startups, and developers get to know each other, forge new business connections, meet and pitch to investors, air opinions, and share experience in a friendly set-up.

Over 1,500 participants, 66 sponsors, and 67 prominent international speakers attended BlockShow Asia in 2017, but the aim is to double the numbers this year.

Bancor and Electrify Asia, the winners of the startup completion held in 2017, have jointly raised over $200 million. The effort aimed at promoting industry development has delivered results since governments, regulators, and corporates are increasingly interested in getting involved in blockchain and cryptocurrency-related business.

The 2018 iteration of the event will provide an opportunity to make the industry more mature. Entrepreneurs with proven track records, crypto traders, investors, talented developers, and startup CEOs are set to participate in BlockShow Asia 2018.

The agenda includes two major conferences, various workshops, a hackathon, and a startup competition, as well as daily parties with excellent networking opportunities. The last day will feature all blockchain hubs, accelerators, and companies in Singapore.

Strong partnership

Asia Blockchain Week has gained strong support from local community members, including LongHash, a platform for accelerating blockchain technology, and ACCESS (Association of Cryptocurrency Enterprises and Startups), a non-profit venture involved in promoting the usage and development of cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies.

Other partners include SFA (Singapore FinTech Association) and SUSS (Singapore University of Social Sciences).

Taking blockchain to the next stage

Blockchain technology is here to stay, and it will soon enter all spheres of life, leaving no one unaffected. Whether you want to become a sponsor or to buy a ticket, now is the time to participate in BlockShow Asia 2018 and rub shoulders with the best, at the best Blockchain industry conference in the world.
