Exclusive: XRP Tip Bot to get a revamp to V2; development on XRPL moves away from Ripple

The XRP Tip Bot is one of the XRP community’s most used and loved additions to the XRP Ledger. Now, in an insider scoop to AMBCrypto, Wietse Wind, the creator of the Bot, announced that it will be undergoing a revamp.

The new version of the XRP Tip Bot will include a completely redesigned user interface [UI] and user experience [UX]. This will be created by one of Ripple’s UX/UI employees, Oscar Manxz, who offered to do so in his own time.

Wind revealed to us that the work has begun on the revamp, known as XRP Tip Bot V2. The new functionalities will be built in and available during the launch of the Bot, which will be during the first quarter of 2019.

The new features include a TipBot “master account”, which will allow enthusiasts of the Bot to link all their social accounts to share balances across platforms. It will also be rebuilt from the ground up, although Wind clarified that the history, balance and other information will be carried over.

Wind said that the code for both the frontend and backend will be completely rewritten in node and VueJS, and will be plugin based for easier integration into more social networks in the future.

The XRP Community has also contributed to the internationalization of the Tip Bot by contributing translations in various languages. This includes Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Georgian, Finnish, Italian, Russian, Swedish, Danish and many others.

Wietse stated:

“The TipBot is a hobby that got out of hand a bit, but in a very good way. I received input from the community and I want to make a few drastic changes, resulting in the decision to start from scratch.”

He also teased the next update of the Tip Bot, stating that the community members contributed some ideas. He went on to state:

“There will also be a few surprises, that probably won’t be available at launch, but soon after the go-live of V2 a few really great ideas sent to me by community members will be added.”

Wind also said that there was a “major addition” currently being tested for the bot, which will be out in the wild before the V2 release. He also shared some pictures with AMBCrypto, which showed the new version of the Bot.

The XRP Tip Bot remains as proof of decentralization of the XRP Ledger apart from Ripple. With more developers moving to XRP Ledger such as Stefan Thomas for Coil, the usage of the XRP Ledger moves away from Ripple and towards the open-source nature that is characteristic of it.
