Cobinhood marks new age for cryptocurrency exchanges by bagging the Red Dot Award

The exchange platform Cobinhood, known for its zero-fee approach to cryptocurrency trading, recently received the Red Dot Award: Communication Design for the year 2018. The exchange is the first cryptocurrency related business to win the award, marking an important moment in the history of cryptocurrency.

The award is a prestigious international prize reserved for those that have attained the height of design philosophies. Other winners this year include Google Home, a watch from TAG Heuer known as the ‘Connected Modular 45 Luxury Kit’, with past winners including names such as Apple and Siemens.

The certificate of the prize will be awarded to Cobinhood on 26th October in Berlin as a part of the “Design on Stage” exhibition. The exhibition is held annually to commemorate the winners of the Red Dot Award. The exchange will also be presented in the annual yearbook published by Red Dot, which will be published in November this year.

The award was accepted on Cobinhood’s behalf by Brand Manager Wen Ku and Ted Deng, a Senior Designer. Ku stated on the award:

“My personal philosophy in design is to challenge the norms, especially in a startup environment, as there is no better place to challenge, fail, and innovate. COBINHOOD has the most user-friendly app in the world, and I’m very proud to be a part of such an amazing team.”

Notably, Cobinhood has stated in the past that they have a design philosophy unmatched by other players on the market. This is in order to provide a user-friendly experience and is complemented by their zero-fee trading philosophy. Ted Deng stated:

“After you invest in crypto and see firsthand the terrible user experience of most other operators, you will naturally try to improve it.”

The Founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award, Professor Dr. Peter Zec also spoke about the high standards set by the jury that decided who would get the award. This is keeping in line with the aim of Red Dot to provide those who need it with a platform for evaluating design. He also spoke about the “intensive debates and discussions” that take place during the judging of the event. He stated:

“All those who progress through the tough adjudication process to garner a Red Dot have every reason to be proud of themselves, as the jury grants our award only to creations of high design quality. This makes me all the more delighted to congratulate the laureates sincerely on their well-deserved success.”
