Bitcoin Cash [BCH] proponent Roger Ver: I think 2019 will be the year of stablecoins

In a recent podcast uploaded by Bitcoin.com, Roger Ver, the CEO of the company and a major Bitcoin Cash [BCH] supporter along with others, spoke about the use cases of the cryptocurrency, regulatory problems and predictions for 2019.

Roger Ver stated that the cryptocurrency market is mostly filled with “a bunch of speculators speculating about speculations”. He opined that the only sustainable bull run will occur after people use it in normal transactions in day to day life. In his words:

“There are so many use cases for cryptocurrencies and I have made it a point to inform users about it. One major example is Purse.io, using which shoppers can get a 30 percent discount on Amazon. Bitpay has also made several strides to make Bitcoin Cash popular along with Coins.ph. Using Coins.ph, people can send money from the Philippines to anywhere else on the planet, quickly and easily. “

The CEO further talked about the regulations on the cryptocurrency industry and how it can change the dynamics in the upcoming future. Ver hopes that the regulatory authorities will take the positive developments into consideration and ensure that the community moves forward in a good manner. He also talked about the Bitcoin SV camp and how its proponents missed the point of cryptocurrencies as a whole.

The Bitcoin.com official then touched upon the recent lawsuit filed against him and Bitmain’s Jihan Wu, calling it bogus. He said:

“I have always said that staters are going to state. Such people should not exist on the network as they only harm the industry. Cypherpunks will always code and if these staters go around suing the very same code written by them, then nothing makes sense.”

Citing the lack of awareness about cryptocurrencies amongst the general populace, Ver took the side of the Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin who had said that there was a lot of animosity on the network. The CEO claimed that the masses have to be informed about the happenings in the industry to increase the user base. According to him:

“I really think that 2019 will be the year of stablecoins and mass adoption. It is very frustrating for me from a philosophical standpoint because, in my opinion, people should not use cryptocurrencies pegged to the dollar but should be something that has no governing body.”
