ConsenSys Leads Funding Round for Coinhouse

ConsenSys Ventures led the $2.8 million series A funding round with an investment of one million dollars, alongside Digital Currency Group, XAnge Siparex Innovation, BTU Protocol Ecosystem Fund, Ledger co-founders Eric Larcheveque, among others.

Coinhouse has managed to establish itself as a leading crypto-asset investment platform in Europe, catering to both retail investors, high-net-worth individuals, as well as institutions. The Paris-based startup plans to use the raised funds to expand its product offering and to launch a qualified custodian service for cryptoassets.

OKavita Gupta, Managing Partner of ConsenSys Ventures writes:

“With an in-depth understanding of their customers, local banking, and government regulations, we believe regional exchange players such as Coinhouse are in a strong position to drive adoption. […] The Coinhouse team have deep-rooted experience in both traditional and crypto fintech, and a vision that is strongly supported by regional leaders in the ecosystem,”

The second investment of ConsenSys Ventures was made to back the encrypted, privacy-enhanced and Ethereum-enabled web browser provider Tenta.

Tenta provides a user-friendly and secure web browser for the blockchain-powered Internet of tomorrow. The browser was created to protect user data and privacy by enabling a private browser experience for users who prefer that their web browser is not harvesting their data.

The Tenta browser stands out from other privacy-focused web browsers due to its use of a VPN trust protocol powered by Ethereum, anti-tracking function, decentralized DNS support, DNS-over-TLS, and full data encryption, according to the press release. To date, Tenta has been downloaded nearly one million times.

Moreover, Tenta is partnering with ConsenSys projects such as Metamask to enable Ethereum DApp support and to strengthen the browsers interoperability with the Ethereum blockchain ecosystem.

“Tenta and ConsenSys share the same values as we build towards a more secure internet that protects consumer data rather than exploiting user’s personal identity information and behaviors. As we continue to reimagine an internet driven by alternatives to advertising-based businesses models or advertising mechanisms that respect the user, Tenta will be a core aspect of consumers’ Web 3.0 experience,” – Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum and founder of ConsenSys.
