Sultan to Speak at the Blockchain Aviation Summit

Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, is to speak at a blockchain summit in Abu Dhabi to be held from the 2nd to the 4th of April.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the event is held by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

“The UAE is continuing its leading role in the field of innovation, with its sustained performance in this year’s Global Innovation Index,” Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri said, adding:

“The UAE is the top ranking country in the Arab world, according to the Global Innovation Index. We are honoured that ICAO has selected the UAE as the host nation of the first ICAO Blockchain Aviation Summit and Exhibition.”

The two days event has a number of sessions, including “Exploring Aviation use cases, pilots and projects in Blockchain, Internet Of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” as well as “Government Proof of concepts and Projects Blockchain for Government. An expected 800 individuals from 90 countries are to attend, with the focus being on how to implement blockchain technology in the aviation industry.

Simon Brown, Design Lead Operations IT at Heathrow Airport, will attend in addition to numerous representatives from multinationals and start-ups.

The event aims to foster global collaboration to unlock blockchain’s potential in aviation which includes air traffic control, airplane parts, supply chains, and then the more financial aspects of payments, tracking and so on.
