Introduction to the team behind the new O3 Labs

In May 2020, O3 Labs announced it is under new management and will move forward maintaining products previously developed by the company. The new O3 Labs team will be structured as an open-source community with core members and contributions from outside developers.

Team members

Zhi Liu, who goes by the GitHub handle, Blue, will assume the role of core developer responsible for product development and design. Before joining the O3 Labs team, Blue worked as a systems engineer at MHD Diageo Moet Hennessy and US Frontline News. Additionally, Blue received an award at the Tokyo Electronic Exhibition for voice resolver technology research entitled “Foreign Language Teaching System.”

Bringing experience from within the Neo ecosystem, Hactrox and Steven Liu will contribute to O3 Labs in an open source capacity.

Hactrox, whose legal name is Shengrui Cai, is a co-founder of the NEXT community and has worked on various Neo-based projects such as the NeoLine wallet browser extension and the Neo Game Developer Guide.

Liu is a technologist at the Neo Foundation, who’s primary role is to communicate with community development groups in a technical capacity. Prior to joining the Neo Foundation, Liu was a software developer at NGD Shanghai working in the R&D department. Liu has delivered presentations about Neo at events across the globe and has contributed to various Neo related projects.

Hactrox and Liu will both play a role in O3 Labs product development.

Other community developers include Lin-Si Yu, who will be responsible for Android development, Ren Peilun, who will focus on desktop development, and Lvyikai, who will be responsible for iOS development.

The entire development team is based out of China, although the newly formed team has marketing and design resources in Australia and New Zealand.

O3 Labs tentatively aims to release a new version of the popular O3 wallet in June 2020, which is expected to again be available via the Apple Store. The new O3 wallet is planned to have a new logo and user interface, following a trademark dispute with a non-blockchain related company. The team is currently seeking feedback on new logo designs.

O3 Labs is also seeking applicants for a business developer role. Interested parties can contact the team at [email protected].
