Travala reports continued platform growth in monthly update

Travala has released its third monthly report for 2019 which highlights a number of growth metrics including website traffic, rooms booked, expanded listings, and more. In addition, the team noted a new booking partnership and launch of its SMART discount and loyalty program, previously covered by NEO News Today.

Travala was conceived in late 2017 as a self-proclaimed Next-gen Online Travel Agency (NOTA). Its business plan claims that Travala “fundamentally changes the relationship between [the] consumer of the future and their travel shopping.” It aims to do this by combining blockchain technology with familiar travel booking functionality to enable new tokenized incentive structures, loyalty programs, and booking discounts.

In early 2018, the first version of the Travala platform was released with 6,000 accommodation listings. The second version launched midway through 2018, with 71,000 listings and an additional 80,000 added shortly thereafter. Today, Travala offers users over 567,000 listings across 210 countries with various payment integrations, intended to empower users to spend cryptocurrencies.

Partnership and Platform Growth

Travala announced a partnership with World2Meet, a Spain-based travel services provider operating in over 175 countries with an inventory of 30,000 directly contracted hotels and 500,000 properties. Travala stated that partnership will “contribute greatly” to its goal of offering 1.5 million properties listings.

With regards to platform growth, Travala reported 44% growth in the number of bookings with 105 in February and 152 in March; 81% growth in the number of room nights booked with 171 in February compared to 311 in March; and a 171% increase in the number of website visitors with 11,162 in February versus 30,258 in March.

Reported top booking destinations included the USA, Thailand, Hong Kong, Italy, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Maldives, India, and Spain.

Roadmap

Lastly, Travala released its Q2 roadmap with an updated list of business and development goals. These goals include the introduction of business level accounts, an affiliate partner program, and a ‘booking giveback’ AVA reward feature, amongst others.
