eBay Confirms Leaked Bitcoin Images

eBay has confirmed the veracity of some crypto related leaked images that came out of Consensus.

However, it’s not quite what anyone might have speculated. An eBay spokesperson, Candace, told Trustnodes:

“The ad is referencing the fact that eBay has a variety of virtual currency related items for sale on the marketplace, such as mining equipment.”

Are they planning to accept bitcoin, we asked, or any other crypto?

“Cryptocurrency is not accepted as a form of payment on the eBay platform, nor is it part of our payments strategy,” Candace said before adding:

“We’re not able to elaborate more on the topic currently. If anything changes in the future we’ll be sure to let everyone know.

I know that many people are very excited about paying in crypto, it’s just not on the roadmap currently.”

We went on to ask about their attendance at Consensus, but “we won’t be able to comment further on the subject,” we’re told.

So this is a plain ad for eBay and they’re advertising crypto to advertise themselves.eval(ez_write_tag([[336,280],'trustnodes_com-medrectangle-4','ezslot_1',169,'0']));

That presumably suggests the crypto section at eBay has grown to a respectable level.

There’s all sorts of things you can buy there. Old physical coins that are now rare because it was illegal to “mint” them. There’s crypto baseball cards, mining gear and much else.

Why not accept crypto for payments though? Well, they wouldn’t comment beyond what we quoted above, but it might be just a matter of time as it seems like they’ve only started looking at this space.

Eventually they might find out some take the words virtual currency as an insult. At that point then hopefully they’ll send us a press release to say crypto is coming to eBay.
