Dash executive Ernesto Contreras explained in a Medium post that Burger King Venezuela had entered a partnership with Cryptobuyer to provide customers with a platform for using crypto. The post claims that Burger King will be using Dash as its pilot crypto payment, despite the original tweet claiming the fast-food restaurant will be accepting multiple currencies.

Contreras wrote,

Through the Cryptobuyer platform, Burger King restaurants in Venezuela will now accept Dash payments. Cryptobuyer’s point of sale system has been rolled out as a pilot, initially in Burger King Caracas at the Sambil store, as cryptobuyer and Burger King are aiming to serve all 40 locations nationwide in 2020.

Cryptobuyer CEO Jorge Farias lauded South America, particularly Venezuela, for being forward-thinking towards crypto.

He said,

The growth of Cryptobuyer in South America, especially in Venezuela, is another example of how this region is ahead of the curve in adopting cryptocurrency as a real method of payment.

Burger King has yet to make an official announcement regarding the acceptance of cryptoassets.
