Ripple SVP introduces new member to UBRI community; blockchain use cases under exploration

Asheesh Birla, the Senior Vice President, Product at Ripple posted a tweet today regarding the mention of Ripple and use cases of the blockchain in Kevin Warten’s new book – The Blockchain and the New Architecture of Trust. Here, Birla stated Warten as a member of the University Blockchain Research Initiative [UBRI] community wherein he will be exploring use cases for the blockchain technology. The tweet by the SVP read:

“Excited it’s come full circle: I took classes from @kwerb @wharton and now he’s part of @Ripple’s UBRI community, looking at interesting use cases for blockchain!”

In a recent blog by Ripple, Warten, who is also an author and Professor, Legal Studies and Business Ethics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, had stated that the real questions to be asked when exploring use cases are “Is this a real and substantial problem to be solved” or “Why won’t a traditional technology solve the problem just as well, if not better?”

Subsequently, the author explained that the most accurate use cases are those that are associated with the cost of trust or possess a gap in trust among the co-dependent entities. He also stated that while the former problem can be allotted to cryptocurrency and digital asset use cases, the latter may be best for enterprise solutions. He also cited Ripple’s services as being beneficial in both the cases.

UBRI, Ripple has seen many successes and developments in the past. For instance, about a week ago, University of Austin, Texas boarded the blockchain initiative to strengthen the joint effort.

Tonny, a cryptocurrency space follower and blockchain enthusiast commented on Birla’s tweet, stating:

Another user named Jeff, an XRP enthusiast also wrote:
